KIDS R.O.C.K.—THE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY OF SARASOTA BAPTIST CHURCH

24Welcome to Kids R.O.C.K. (Kids Relying on Christ the King) – Our mission is to join with families in connecting parents and their children to Jesus Christ. All that we do in programming and activities is done with that goal in mind. Here are some of our offerings:

SUNDAY MORNINGS — We encourage families to worship together at our 9:00 am worship service.
At 10:30am, we offer community groups for children in grades 1-5 using a curriculum called 252 Basics produced by Orange (www.whatisorange.org). 252 Basics is built around three basic truths which Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52. They are:
  • I need to make the wise choice.
  • I can trust God no matter what.
  • I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
These key concepts are taught as we study monthly a different life application — a quality of God’s nature that He instills in those who follow Him. We have a large group time of upbeat worship in music and teaching, followed by small groups for application and discussion. Parents receive a monthly “cue card” so they can continue the discussion at home. Children receive a “God Time” card to guide them through personal devotions that week.

AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) clubs are offered during the school year on Wednesday evenings from 6:15-7:45 for 3 years old-5th grades. Clubbers enjoy a high-energy game time on the AWANA circle, a large group teaching time, and small group handbook time where they earn awards for memorizing Scripture. AWANA is a tried and true program to reach children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and train them to serve Him.

26GENERATIONS CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Children’s Choir currently meets from 5:30 to
6: 10 PM on Wednesdays in the Garage (part of the worship center building). Children’s Choir prepares to sing on Sunday mornings as well as for other special occasions.

CHILDREN’S BAPTISM CLASSES are offered four times per year to help parents determine whether or not their child is ready to be baptized. This class is recommended for children in grades 1 – 5 and requires that a parent (or guardian) attend the class with the child. We answer the following questions about baptism: Why should I get baptized? When should I be baptized? How should I be baptized?

SUMMER ACTIVITIES—During the summer, activities such as a Music & Drama Camp, sports camp, fishing camp, Bible camp, as well as family activities. We anticipate offering similar activities this upcoming summer.

FAMILY ACTIVITIESVarious family activities are scheduled throughout the year on or off campus like family camping on campus in January, Blizzard Blast on campus in February, end of school year celebration on campus in May, family swim night off campus during the summer, family hiking and cook-out off campus in the fall.

We love to welcome visitors and see them become a part of our family. Come, join us, and let’s grow together as we learn to love God and to love others!
