Rod Boatwright and his family came to Sarasota Baptist Church in 2004. Rod has been Minister of Missions since April, 2005. He served as a career missionary with the International Mission Board from 1990-2001 in France and the Netherlands. Prior to that he worked as Minister of Missions at Talce Springs Baptist Church in Arlington, TX.

Rod is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. One of his favorite scripture passages is 2 Corinthians 5:20; "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."

Of the many facets of local church ministry, missions is Rod's favorite, and he is very excited about the opportunities that Sarasota Baptist offers in local and foreign missions. Rod has been married to Donna since 1982, and they have been blessed with three children.
