At Sarasota Baptist, we believe that God wants to do something life-changing in the lives of students; not just in the students of our church, but all middle school & high school students in Sarasota. Because of that reality, we want to make sure that we are regularly reaching-out in order to put students in a position to hear from King Jesus & connect with Him, personally. We believe that it is important for students to be under the teaching of the Word of God in a corporate, family setting through our Sunday worship services. We also believe that it is vital for students to experience community & build Godly relationships with their peers, so we strongly encourage students to be part of Sunday morning community groups, as well as our mid-week worship gathering on Wednesday evenings.
Finally, we believe that the Bible shows us how students have amazing potential for impacting the kingdom of God in any generation. We intentionally provide contexts to cultivate leadership, service, & mentoring for our student community throughout the year.
Join us on Sunday mornings where students come together to eat some doughnuts, study the Bible and strengthen relationships through discussion in a smaller group setting. All students meet together in the chapel for doughnuts and announcements, then break-out for community group classes for middle school and high school (6th-12th grade).
//Wednesdays from 6:15-8:00pm
Come join us every week for Forward Motion - FM is our dynamic mid-week gathering that includes live worship, creative teaching, and building community with other students. Forward motion is for Middle and High School students.
Our student ministry is very active with other events, trips, meetings and outings as well. Please follow us on Instagram or Twitter, or like us on Facebook for up-to-date details on what we do beyond our weekly/monthly calendar items displayed here.
Share Your Faith Night is for all students who want to sharpen their ability to share the Gospel in their context. SYF Nights always include evangelism training, as well as going into the city of Sarasota. The third Sunday of each month from 6-8:00pm
MERGE -August 14
Parents of new 6th graders - We have planned a fun time of fellowship for you and our new 6th grade students that you won't want to miss. Transitioning into any youth group can feel intimidating, but it doesn't have to be this way.
By definition, merging means to combine or unite gradually. In terms of traffic, it describes a process through which vehicles join rank with a larger body of traffic-flow that is headed in the same direction. In terms of ministry, it describes what we want 6th graders and their families to experience – a smooth transition with a larger group that is already moving with God’s purpose and direction. By promotion Sunday (Aug. 21), we want your son/daughter to sense that they Belong, so that as they Begin their journey through our student ministry, they will be in the perfect position to discover how to Become all that Jesus has called them to be. We want you and your new 6th grader to feel connected from day one. This event is for new 6th graders and their parent(s) only. Childcare will be provided for younger siblings. Lunch will be provided, so please RSVP by Wednesday, August 10th by phone or email. You can also join this event on our Facebook page (Sarasotabsm).
This is also a great opportunity for you to invite fellow parents who have a son or daughter moving into the middle school this fall to connect with our student ministry and church. MERGE – Belong. Begin. Become.
