At Sarasota Baptist, we believe that God wants to do something life-changing in the lives of students; not just in the students of our church, but all middle school & high school students in Sarasota. Because of that reality, we want to make sure that we are regularly reaching-out in order to put students in a position to hear from King Jesus & connect with Him, personally. We believe that it is important for students to be under the teaching of the Word of God in a corporate, family setting through our Sunday worship services. We also believe that it is vital for students to experience community & build Godly relationships with their peers, so we strongly encourage students to be part of Sunday morning community groups, as well as our mid-week worship gathering on Wednesday evenings.
Finally, we believe that the Bible shows us how students have amazing potential for impacting the kingdom of God in any generation. We intentionally provide contexts to cultivate leadership, service, & mentoring for our student community throughout the year.
Our student ministry is very active with other events, trips, meetings and outings as well. Please follow us on Instagram or Twitter, or like us on Facebook for up-to-date details on what we do beyond our weekly/monthly calendar items displayed here.
On the first Sunday night of every month, our students come and hang-out for some games and recreation time in the gym or in our student chapel. Students are encouraged to use these nights as an outreach opportunity to bring their unchurched friends to this fun time of fellowship where the gospel is also presented. Typical organized games that are played are volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, kickball, etc. Nights that will focus on one particular game or type of activity will be promoted in advance as such on our social media sites. Games & Rec Night lasts from 6– 8:00 pm on the first Sunday night of the month.
Bucket List - Oct. 11
Every month our students ask questions for which there is insufficient class or group time to discuss completely. When those BIG questions get asked, we throw them in the classroom Bucket. As the questions accumulate, it creates a very interesting list. Some of these questions are deep, difficult, controversial and/or theological. Regardless of the category, we believe that the Bible has the answers to these questions.
On the second Sunday of the month, our students gather in a coffee house style setting in the student chapel where we tackle these questions from a biblical worldview. Our model for this follows what we see in Acts 17:11, where the church in Berea purposed to always compare what they were taught against what the Scriptures had to say; even when Apostles were the ones doing the teaching. The Bucket List lasts from 6-8:00 pm on and, unless otherwise noted.
Share Your Faith Night - Oct. 18
Share Your Faith Night is for all students who want to sharpen their ability to share the Gospel in their context. SYF Nights always include evangelism training, as well as going into the city of Sarasota. 6-8:00pm
