Mission & Strategy:

Why are we doing this?

To connect with unchurched families on October 31st in Sarasota where we know they are trick-or-treating. Host homes (called Sweet-Spots) will be in strategic neighborhoods where trick-or-treating numbers are high.

Host Home Description:
What is a Sweet-Spot?

A home located in a neighborhood that is also the residence of someone in our church family. Sweet-Spot hosts will be aided by Sarasota Baptist in creating an amazing, welcoming and unique neighborhood destination that trick-or-treating families won’t want to miss; and a place where families will want to linger longer.

In order to encourage people to stay a little longer, Sweet-Spots will utilize a few activity elements (provided by the church) that might include things like a snow cone, popcorn, or cotton candy machine, a small fire pit to roast marshmallows, some type of carnival game, a kid’s movie projected on a screen, or even a bounce house! ALL locations will feature a selfie wall, free bottled water, and – of course – AMAZING candy!

Host Home Personnel:

What is expected of those who host a Sweet-Spot?

We want each family that hosts a Sweet-Spot to be assisted and supported by the presence of additional church members for the evening. Together, they will work to create a warm and friendly environment to greet and meet families, and engage in conversations. Each trick-or-treating family that comes will receive church info with their candy. Outside of that, host homes will be supplied with other resources such as church connection cards and gospel tracts to use as opportunities arise.

Important dates to know:

  • September 9 – General Information Meeting
  • September 23 – Host Homes and Support Training

Sweet-Spot Support Opportunities:

  • Neighborhood Prayer Walks – 1-2 weeks prior to the event, we will mobilize our church family to form teams that will conduct prayer walks in neighborhoods where a Sweet-Spot will be located.
  • Candy Packing Party – We will be inviting anyone in our church family to join us in prepping candy items, on October 21st, with church promo info attached. Candy donations will be accepted beginning September 30.
