Upward Sports, the world’s largest Christian sports program for children, was created with a vision to provide the best sports experience possible for every child. Each year some 1 million people around the world play, coach, referee, or volunteer in Upward Sports leagues and camps hosted by more than 2,600 churches. Anyone – children and volunteers of any faith or no faith – can participate in Upward Sports. Specifically designed for children, Upward Sports aims to bring out “the winner” in every child – regardless of the game’s score.

Emphasizing healthy competition, sportsmanship, skills building and fun versus the “win-at-all-costs” mentality associated with many sports leagues. Rules unique to Upward Sports—including game format, substitution system and rules for play—are designed to provide the best sports experience for every child. On top of equipping children with sport fundamentals needed to participate at the next level, some distinctive features to Upward Sports are:

1. Each child is evaluated before the team selection process to create balanced teams that are competitive.
2. Upward Sports utilizes a unique substitution system which guarantees every child equal playing time.
3. Upward Sports aims to teach both athletic skill as well as values for success on and off the playing field/court.
4. Upward Sports prioritizes a family friendly schedule by conducting one-hour practices and games each week.
5. With supportive coaches and a positive sports environment, Upward Sports is designed to bring out “the winner” in every child regardless of the game’s score.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

BRING OR MAIL REGISTRATION FORM AND FEE TO:

Form and registration fee may be dropped off at the church office anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

The registration cost per child for basketball is $100.
Register before December 9 and save $20.
Basketball shorts are includedin the registration cost.
Cheerleading mock turtlenecks are included in the registration cost.
Please make checks payable to Sarasota Baptist Church.

EVALUATIONS AND ORIENTATIONS:

Everyone must attend one basketball evaluation.
They will take place at the Sarasota Baptist Church Gym as follows:

K4 through 12^th Grade Boys/Girls
Saturday, December 3rd
between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

K4 through 12^th Grade Boys/Girls
Friday, December 9th
between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

LEAGUE SCHEDULE:

Practices begin the week of Monday, January 2, 2012
First Game - Saturday, January 14, 2012
Awards Celebration - Saturday, March 10, 2012
